[lastfm]Jimi Hendrix[/lastfm] died on September 18th, 1970 making this year the 40th anniversary of his death. Our friends in Detroit sat down with Brad Schreiber, co-author of Becoming Jimi Hendrix: From Southern Crossroads to Psychedelic London, to hear some fascinating Hendrix facts.
Catch the audio after the jump. Plus, scope out a photo gallery, see early Hendrix performance footage, and find out the connection between Jimi Hendrix and [lastfm]Jayne Mansfield[/lastfm].
Linda Keith, believe it or not is the one who got Chas Chandler, formerly of [lastfm]The Animals[/lastfm], to come see Jimi at the Cafe Wha? in Greenwich Village. He was just astounded and brought him to the UK where he was just an instant sensation and then of course Jimi came back to Monterey Pop and the rest is history.
