Annette Charles, who starred as Cha Cha DiGregorio in “Grease,” passed away on August 3 after a month long hospitalization. She was suffering from cancer and had been hospitalized for complications resulting therefrom.
Speaking to TMZ prior to her death, a family member said:
“Annette had recently started having difficulty breathing and when she went to the doctor she learned that she had a cancerous tumor in one of her lungs.”
Charles also starred in “Gunsmoke” and “The Bionic Woman”; however, her most memorable scene came with John Travolta during the “Grease” school dance competition.
She continued acting through the eighties before moving onto a teaching career in California.
Charles is the second “Grease” cast member to pass in recent months. In May, Jeff Conaway (Kenickie), died after a prolonged coma.
