Wednesday on-board the Disney Dream is spent at sea. Tuesday we docked at Disney’s private island Castaway Cay (that last word is pronounced ”key”). It’s a tropical sportsman’s paradise. There was something for everyone. From parasailing (what a thrill) to snorkeling, bike rides, crab races, basketball, jet skis, wind surfing, swimming, volleyball and more. Lunch time was a huge barbeque on the beach. And if you just wanted to relax, there was a beach chair waiting for you. The Disney people thought of everything. But it was important to be back on-board by 4pm because Tuesday night is Pirate Night. Special dinners, a magic show and even late night fireworks at sea.
Dinners are rotated around restaurants at night. Your table number is the same at each restaurant and your server is the same too. So they already know your preferences on food and drink and they all have great personalities. Our server prides himself with puzzles and he’s always trying to stump us. (He usually does).
The photos you see here include some of the children’s clubs on-board with all the computer terminals. And that dog with the shades – he was sculptured out of towels and we found him on the bed when we came back from the “Villains At Night” musical in the Walt Disney Theatre. Those towel sculptures were found all over the ship. There are even swan sculptures from wash cloths.
Our cruise ends soon but it is something that will be remembered forever. I really feel we are spoiled on cruise lines. The Disney Cruise Line is the gold standard.
Thanks to the staff and crew of the Disney Dream for making it a memorable experience!
