R.I.P. Jonathan Winters – Funniest Man On Mearth

The world lost a true original yesterday as comedian Jonathan Winters passed away at age 87.  While he really made a name for himself through the 1950’s and 60’s, a whole new generation was introduced to his comedy in 1981 when Winters joined the cast of Mork & Mindy as Mearth.  It was the show’s final season and some critics say it had jumped the shark.  But, I think some of the series’ best episodes starred Jonathan.

If you think Robin Williams is out of his head, take this into consideration: his inspiration as a comedian/improvisationalist was Jonathan Winters!  While they were both hilarious on their own, the combination of the two was unbelievable.  Take a look at an appearance they made together on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1991:

He brings out the best in everyone!  At least we can still spend time with Jonathan through the footage of his hilarious work.
