Ellen DeGeneres had plans for Chicago yesterday (October 1), instructing everyone in our great city to meet at the Bean (AKA Cloud Gate) at 4pm.

Ellen’s full Facebook message read, “Chicago- I want you to dress in a way to make someone smile, & make it interesting! Meet at the Bean at 4pm. There’s a big prize at stake.”

And, surprise surprise, people showed up in droves.

Once there, the huge crowd found a camera and a truck transmitting their images straight to Ellen. They were also given instructions: wait till 6!

Her tweets gave a clue as to what might happen.

At 3:51 yesterday she tweeted, “Chicago is my kind of town, and it’s almost time to toddle on over to the Bean to be on my show. Someone’s gonna win big.”

Then, an hour later, she wrote: “I understand Chicago. You don’t need $10,000. But if you do, you can still get to The Bean and you can still win.”

Ellen then took a look at the best costumes at the gathering at the Bean, and made those wearing them make up a song! See their songs and what the singers won below:

What’d you think of the songs? Could you have done better?
