Disney animated films always seem to do well at the box office.
Their latest entry, “Moana”, was another in a long line of hits.
Over the long Thanksgiving weekend the film brought in over $81 million bucks, making it the second biggest Thanksgiving weekend open ever.
Just in case you’re wondering, the biggest ever Thanksgiving open was also a Disney flick.
“Frozen” made $90 million plus a couple years back.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” dropped nearly 40% in it’s second week, but was still good enough for #2 with receipts in excess of $45 million dollars.
“Dr. Strange” may have been out for almost a month, but it’s still holding up well at the box office.
It grabbed another $13.3 million to bring it’s total to over $205 million!
“Allied” and “Arrival” rounded out the top 5.
This weeks new entrants “Bad Santa 2” and “Rules Don’t Apply” had less than fabulous debuts.
Billy Bob Thorton’s Santa sequel came in add #8 with just over $6 million, while “Rules Don’t Apply” didn’t even crack the Top 10.
It made a measly $1.5 million for 12th place.
