Ken Cocker Talks Eddie Money’s First Live Show In Chicago

I saw Eddie Money in what I think was his first appearance in Chicago. (Don’t forget, Money will be playing the K-HITS 80s Wonderland show in early December!)

It was at the Aragon ballroom in 1978 while I was working at the old WMET (95.5). He was appearing with Dave Mason who had the hit “We Just Disagree.”

Eddie had released his first album which was self titled and his hit at the time was his first “Baby Hold On.” I went backstage with a couple of listeners and was so impressed with just how nice Eddie was.

He told us he was scheduled for 300 dates that year, and to this day he still works a lot… though not 300 dates.

I was blown away to find out he had been a NYC cop. He and Mason did a duet on “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” to finish the show.
