The Rolling Stones have released their new video for their cover of Chicago bluesman Eddie Taylor’s ‘Ride ‘Em on Down,’ which stars Kristen Stewart driving through Los Angeles in a vintage blue Ford Mustang. The song appears on the band’s new album Blue & Lonesome, released today.
As the video kicks off, Stewart exits a liquor store, hops into her car and dons a pair of sunglasses. Then she starts the vehicle, shifts into drive and begins rocking out to the song. The more she gets into it, the more she swerves, speeds and breaks traffic rules until she’s eventually pulled over.
For Stewart, being in a Stones video was a real thrill. “It didn’t take much more than a few words to get me amped on the idea. The Stones. A 65 Mustang. Alone in Los Angeles,” she said in a statement. “And the shoot was just as dreamy as the idea. We tore LA apart in a day and we had one hell of a soundtrack.”
Blue & Lonesome was tracked in three days with co-producer Don Was at British Grove Studios in West London. It features 12 covers by blues artists including Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor and Howlin’ Wolf.
