Look up one hit wonder in the dictionary and you’ll probably find this group.
“When I’m With You” was the one and only major hit for Canadian rock group Sheriff.
It was on their self titled debut album and was a hit in their home country in 1983, but didn’t become a hit inm the US until six years later….and four years after the band broke up.
So why the long gap?
Well, a Minnesota radio station started playing it randomly in 1989 and received a good response.
That led to other radio stations around the country started playing it too, so the record company decided to re-release the song as a single and it went to #1 here in the US!
Too bad the band wasn’t still together to enjoy their success.
Part of the reason for their breakup was their lack of success outside of the Great White North!
