When you think of Chicagoans up for Grammy Awards, what’s the first name that pops into your head?
Probably someone like Common or Kanye West, right? There’s also Chance the Rapper, who’s recent success has garnered the Chatham resident seven Grammy nominations this year.
But Chance isn’t the only musician representing Chicago! There’s also Todd Dulaney.
He’ll be out on the West Coast this Sunday hoping to pick up a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album Of The Year.
So just who is Todd Dulaney?
Well, the Maywood native told ABC 7 that after being drafted by the New York Mets out of a downstate Mt. Carmel College, he realized that singing… and not baseball… was his life’s calling.
(On a side note, my son, who played who was a pitcher down at SIU, would have killed for that opportunity and this guy gave it up!)
Singing backup led to his own record deal and now he’s up for a Grammy Award! Wow!
Good luck, Todd! Bring home that Grammy to Chicago!
