The Week That Changed Popular Music Forever

On February 7, 1964 they arrived at JFK airport in New York to begin their first American concert tour.

Two days later, 73 million viewers saw the Beatles perform on CBS television’s Ed Sullivan show.

At the time, I Want To Hold Your Hand was the #1 song in the USA.  It was replaced 7 weeks later by She Loves You.  That song relinquished the top spot to Can’t Buy Me Love on April 4th.  14 straight weeks at the top of the charts and the Fab Four was just getting started.
