If you have reservations at Frontera Grill today, this Tweet from celeb chef Rick Bayless probably wont make you happy.
Out of respect for r staff’s vote to support Thurs’s immigrant civil action, we r closing Frontera Grill, Topolobampo,Xoco & Fonda Frontera

On his website, Bayless prefaced this announcement by writing, “For three decades, we’ve been a place that has welcomed, respected and promoted our immigrant staff, friends and restaurant family.”
According to CBS Chicago, the decision was made after many of Bayless’s employees expressed that they wanted to participate in Thursday’s nationwide “A Day Without Immigrants” protest. The protests are in response to President Trump’s immigration policies.
Bayless’s restaurants in the West Loop, Cruz Blanca and Leña Bravain, will be open today. DNA Info Chicago says those restaurants will be donating a portion of their profits to the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights instead.
Bayless’s restaurants aren’t the only establishments participating. Several businesses in Chicago — and more across the country — are taking part in the “A Day Without Immigrants” protest. There’s even a rally planned in Chicago for 11 AM in Union Park.
