Saturday Night Sizzle: ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boy’ By Deniece Williams

“Let’s Hear It For The Boy” is from the Footloose soundtrack, released in 1984.

Kevin Bacon is teaching another guy to dance when this song comes on. It was a #1. When she saw the film, Deniece thought the scene where they used her song was incredible.

“If I had come to the film without the music in and they asked me what segment I wanted my song to be in, I would have chosen that segment,” Williams is quoted as saying in “The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits.”

Before “Let’s Hear It For The Boy,” Williams had a huge hit with Johnny Mathis on “Too Much, Too Little, Too late.”

Hear sizzlin’ songs every Saturday…
