His Band Was Asked To Play Woodstock — They Said No Thanks

Peter Wolf was born in the Bronx on March 7, 1946.  In the 60’s, he worked as a DJ on a radio station in Boston.  That’s where the J. Geils Band was formed with Wolf as lead singer.

The band’s first hits appeared in the 70’s.  Must Of Got Lost was the biggest of them and peaked at #12 in 1975.

In the second half of the decade, Peter Wolf was the husband of Faye Dunaway.

The J. Geils Band achieved their greatest success in the early 80’s.  Centerfold  became the band’s only #1 hit and topped the charts for 6 weeks in 1982.

The song was the first single released from their Freeze Frame album.  The title cut was released next and was a #4 hit itself.
