As my fellow Catholics know, this is the season of Lent. One of the sacrifices we make during Lent is abstaining from eating meat on Fridays. That’s why you see a lot of “Fish Fry Days” leading up to Easter.
That’s all well and good. We’ve done it all our lives. This year, however, a monkey wrench has been thrown into the Lenten machine:
ST. PATRICK’S DAY IS ON A FRIDAY!!!
But…but…but…what about the corned beef and cabbage?!?
Irish Catholics, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Cardinal Cupich has given general dispensation for March 17th.
In other words, chow down!
