Forgotten Favorites Friday Goes Back To The Future

In 1949, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard were born in Texas.  ZZ Top was formed in Houston 20 years later.

Francine became their first hit single in 1972.  Their next album Tres Hombres,  produced the hit single La Grange.  That song remains my favorite today.

ZZ Tops greatest success came during the 80’s when Legs and Sleeping Bag became top-10 hits.  Their 1983 Eliminator album sold over 10 million copies and their music videos won numerous awards.

Among other honors, they’ve been named Official Heroes by the state of Texas and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

That “Little Old Band From Texas” has also appeared in the movies!

From the 1990 film Back To The Future III, here’s Doubleback.
