Did you know there’s a park themed after the Wizard of Oz on the North Side?
It’s fittingly called OZ Park and is near Lincoln and Webster.
There’s a bunch of OZ themed statues all around the place, including one of Dorothy and Toto.
Well, it seems that people have been leaving flowers near that statue recently.
It’s because Toto has died…
No, not the original Toto from the 1939 film, but the dog that the sculptor used as an inspiration.
DNA Info says the dog’s name was daVinci and he was originally a stray when the sculptor found him and decided to use the little terrier as her tiny little four legged model back in 2007.
She even told the paper that this wasn’t the last time daVinci was cast as Toto either!
Apparently, the dog also played Dorothy’s best friend in a high school version of the musical as well!
I may have to stop by there this weekend and leave a little Milkbone in memory of little daVinci.
