What a hit this was in 1974, Pick up the Pieces by the Average White Band, or AWB. In spite of their name, AWB was that rarest of musical species: a band out of Scotland that specialized in R&B funk. This fun loving instrumental (the only lyrics being the occasional chanting of the song’s title) was their signature tune, going all the way to #1. Hear it in the eight o’clock hour on the Saturday Night Sizzle. A great performance is below.
