Maybe the secret to a HUGE March opening is having Emma Watson star in your film.
Watson starred in the live action remake of “Beauty and The Beast” that nabbed $170 million between Friday and Sunday.
That’s more than the previous record holder for a March opening, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” at $169 million, which also starred Emma Watson.
Last week’s #1 “Kong: Skull Island” fell to #2, but that was to be expected.
It made just shy of $29 million and has now made around $110 million in two weeks of release.
“Logan”, the latest (and possibly last) in the Wolverine film series, keeps chugging along, taking in another $17.5 million.
“Get Out” and “The Shack” rounded out the top five.
It’ll be another big weekend as the reboot of “Power Rangers” and the big screen adaption of the TV series C.H.I.P.S. are released on Friday.
