16 Hits In 12 Years — Here’s War’s Most Successful Song

In 1969, the Latin-style band War formed in Long Beach, California. Until 1971, they were Eric Burdon’s backup band. Burdon had been lead singer of the Animals in the sixties.

In 1970, Spill The Wine became the group’s first hit song.

Using elements of rock, jazz, Latin, rhythm & blues, funk and reggae, War charted 16 hits by 1982.

The most successful would debut in March of 1973 and rise to #2 on the Billboard charts.
