By 1973, the Beach Boys had been popular for more than 20 years and charted 42 hit songs. However, their popularity was at a low point that year.

They were booked to perform at a venue in Atlanta with 16,000 seats on April 11th, 1973. Less than 3,000 tickets were sold.

One of the supporting acts on that date was Bruce Springsteen. He was virtually unknown at the time. Of course that would change in 1975.

Here’s a Beach Boys song that was heard on the radio in 1973.
