Turntable Tuesday Video: ‘I Shot The Sheriff’ By Eric Clapton

I guess we know who shot the sheriff, but did they ever find out who shot the deputy?

“I Shot The Sheriff” was off of Eric Clapton’s 1974 album “461 Ocean Boulevard” but it wasn’t the original version of the song.

It was originally done by Bob Marley a year earlier. but it was Clapton’s cover version that ended up going to #1 on the Billboard charts.

In fact, it’s this version that you’ll find in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame too!

The success of this song is also a big reason that “461 Ocean Boulevard” was such a big hit as an album, selling over 2 million copies!

BTW-Clapton’s cover wasn’t the first, or the last, for that matter.

In 1997, rapper Warren G did his own version but that version peaked at #20 on the charts.

All day today on K-Hits, we’ll dust off some songs that you may not have heard in awhile (like this one!) for Turntable Tuesday!
