I’m not sure if I’d want to be downwind of this site.
Cook County commissioners have given the OK to an organic composting landfill in Des Plaines on East Central near the Des Plaines River.
Not everyone is happy about it.
The Chicago Tribune says some of the people that live in the area oppose it.
They think it’ll hurt the environment and cause a whole bunch of traffic in the area.
But the worst part they say is that it’ll smell.
Hey, I completely understand that argument.
When I lived in Hinsdale I had a neighbor that tried composting in his back yard.
He threw egg shells, food and all kinds of other crud in there and it really stunk!
The village eventually made him clean it up.
