If you were in or around Navy Pier yesterday, you may have notice a giant inflatable rat nearby.
It was there because the union security workers there are on strike.
What’s their beef?
Here’s what the claimed to the Chicago Tribune:
They say that Navy Pier’s new security contractor is planning on cutting 90% of the union jobs there and replacing them with people that make considerably less.
Allied Universal, the group that the union is ticked off at, isn’t commenting, but says there will be no interuption in security services at Navy Pier during any of this.
For me it’s a bummer because now you have to walk through a picket line just to get to the Ferris Wheel!
