This 80’s Blockbuster Had Been Turned Down By Every Studio In Hollywood

Indiana Jones was introduced  in Raiders of the Lost Ark on June 12, 1981.  The action adventure film starred Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.

Jones was an archaeologist. He was hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis.

Even though George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were behind the film, every Hollywood studio rejected it initially.  Paramount finally agreed to do it after much persuasion.

I’m sure they didn’t regret the decision, Raiders  became the biggest grossing film of 1981.

However, actor Jeff Bridges may have some regrets.  He actually turned down the Indiana Jones role!
