An MLB Umpire From Oak Lawn Saved A Woman On A Pittsburgh Bridge!

John Tumpane went to Oak Lawn High School and fulfilled his dream of becoming a Major League Baseball umpire.

Who knew that it would lead to saving someone’s life.

CBS 2 Chicago says Tumpane was in Pittsburgh earlier this week to ump a game between the Pirates and Tampa Bay and decided to go out for a jog before the game.

That’s when he came across a lady attempting to jump from a Pittsburgh bridge.

He talked to her and then was able to grab her and hold on (with the help of some others) until cops arrived.

Even after all that, he still ended up umping the game later that night too!

Great job John! Oak Lawn…and all of Chicago is proud of you!
