Who Did It Better: ‘I Will Always Love You’ Whitney Houston VS. Dolly Parton

When you think of the song “I Will Always Love You”, you probably think of this version.

Whitney Houston had a HUGE hit with this song in 1992 on “The Bodyguard” soundtrack.

Here’s the crazy thing though…it’s actually a cover song!

Yep, Dolly Parton did the original version of the song in 1973.

Here version of “I Will Always Love You” was on her 1974 “Jolene” album.

Parton took the song to the top of the country charts twice, in both 1974 and again in 1982 when it was on the sountrack of the film “The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas.”

Obviously, the Whitney version was bigger, spending 14 weeks at #1 in 1992.

So….which version do you think is better?
