Imagine you’re a pregnant woman who is pulled over for a broken headlight.
You’ve got outstanding warrant for retail theft so they take you in.
Would you ever expect to be in jail for over a month?
That’s what The Chicago Tribune says happened to Karen Padilla, who was seven and a half months pregnant.
A Cook County judge says he had every right to hold her.
Padilla ended up having the baby in jail, and that’s when sheriff’s officials and prosecutors were able to get together and get her released.
Never the less, there’s a lot of heat on the judge for keeping her behind bars for that long, especially considering it was a non violent case.
