Throwback Thursday: ‘I Need A Lover’ By John Mellencamp

Before John Mellencamp was able to call himself by his real name, he had some previous aliases.

One of those was Johnny Cougar when he was first starting out in the late 70’s.

While he had that gimmicked nickname, he also had his first hit, which was the 1978 song “I Need A Lover.”

But, do you know who else had a hit with this song?

A year later in 1979, Pat Benatar released it as a single from her debut studio album, “In the Heat of the Night”
