VIDEO: SNL Exhibit Debuts This October

It’s hard to believe “Saturday Night Live” has been on the air for 42 years, but that’s the anniversary it will celebrate next month! Less than two weeks later, Saturday Night Live: The Experience will open right here in Chicago.

While I think everyone can agree SNL has had its ups and downs, it has certainly been influential to a number of generations. Mine included.

Having been born just 10 days before the program’s debut on 10/11/1975, I was obviously too young to enjoy the legendary sign-on cast. I’ve since soaked in the essence of Aykroyd, Belushi, Chase, Curtain, Morris, Newman, and Radner thanks to television specials and, eventually, the interwebs.

My favorite era of SNL was from the late 80s through the early 90s, when cast members like Dana Carvey, Nora Dunn, Phil Hartman, Victoria Jackson, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller, Mike Myers, and Kevin Nealon made me laugh hysterically at inappropriate things.

No matter which period you enjoyed most, it will be celebrated at the Museum of Broadcast Communications (360 N. State St.) starting October 21st!

Advance tickets go on sale THIS Friday (9/8/2017).

Chicago will be the second home for this exhibition, which is especially fitting for “The Second City.” It previously spent a year on display in New York City.

Watch a video tour above then see it in person next month!
